Pachmarhi - Travel Tips

We have been to Pachmarhi twice, once on our honeymoon that was during the winters in December and secondly, in the summer of May. Its true that Pachmarhi can be visited throughout the year except during the rains, but personally we liked to be there during winters, not just because we where there on our honeymoon, but we felt that during winters we can experience Pachmarhi in its full blossom, be it the lush surrounding, the full flow of the water falls, or be it just trekking.

In this page we would like to share some travelling tips with you, from our experiences during our visits to Pachmarhi. We will be eagerly waiting to receive your travel story and add on more Travel Tips from your experiences.

1. The best season to visit will be during winter.

2. During winter you can enjoy off seasonal rates in hotel rooms.

3. The main religious festival is ‘Shivratri’ during Feb-Mar and ‘Nag Panchami’ during August, it is estimated that around four to five lakh devotees come for the festival, so unless you are coming here to celebrate these festivals, avoid coming during these times, as it will be too crowded and congested.

4. If you are coming during peak season, it is always a better idea to book your hotel room in advance.

5. Ask your hotelier to arrange a taxi for your sight seeing. (Whether you want to take the tour package offered by your hotelier, is up to you.)

6. Bad news for people who love to eat non-veg. food, majority of the hotels in pachmarhi serve only pure vegetarian food.

7. As of now only BSNL provides the mobile facility here, and no other mobile network works here.

8. Don’t forget your Tracking / Sports shoes, as you really feel the need while getting down to waterfalls. If some ladies don’t like to wear a shoe, get a good foot wear, but please avoid heel sandals.

9. Always keep a pet water bottle while visiting to sites, especially when you are going to ‘Dutchess Fall’.

10. Be careful while putting your foot into water in-between the rocks, as spiders make there web across these rocks above the water. I myself was just about to keep my foot over the spider, so just be careful.

11. Its refreshing and fun to take a bath under the water fall, so don’t forget to take an extra pair of cloth.

12. Inside the forest area if you want to use a still camera its free of charge, but you have to pay Rs. 350 for using a movie camera.
